If you ever feel like giving up, just remember there is a little girl watching who wants to be just like you… don’t disappoint her.
Another month gone by, another month closer to a year, I can’t believe that Eliza is growing right before my eyes. Sometimes I forget that she was so little and fragile, damn, I should’ve taken more pictures and videos…note to self, take more pictures and videos. That once small little infant has been replaced with a toddler that wants to conquer the world, and I’m so happy and proud to be her mama!
Here are her updates from the past month.
Last month she was crawling like a machine and this month is no different. She has gotten a lot more confident on her feet and has even started cruising the furniture and standing on her own for longer periods of time. With her strength increasing she’ll be walking in no time.
About two weeks after turning nine months she tried to chase Apollo up the stairs, and a week later she has mastered going up the stairs! Now just to figure out the going down part, LOL.
As for talking, she is doing pretty well. She understands quite a few words and phrases. Off the top of my head she knows momma, daddy, bye, come here, no please, good girl, say hi, and wave. She still doesn’t call me mom but does call me nana, which is kind of funny since that’s the exact name my little sister used to call me before she could pronounce the letter D.
She added a few more words to her vocabulary since last month:
- Good Girl
- Nana (mama)
Eliza definitly has her father’s appetite. I may go as far as saying she’s insatiable sometimes. You would never know it by looking at her, but this girl can EAT! She’ll eat everything put in front of her and more. She still has formula when she wakes up, before bed, and a few times during the day but for the most part she is eating meals like the rest of the family
Nothing much has changed in this department. Bedtime is still pretty standard with some nights being a bit harder than others, but for the most part, it is sleeping by 7:30 pm and up by 8:00 am. She is down to one nap a day (she has never been too fond of naps) and if it’s a good day, it will be for 2 hours.
She was 20 pounds and 30 inches tall at 9.5 months old. She can still fit into 3-6 month old tops but needs either 9-12 month or 12-18 month bottoms depending on the brand. We have been trying to get her used to wearing shoes more often as she will need to wear them at daycare. She is a size 4 in moccasins and 3.5 in runners. I should also mention that finding solid colour baby shoes is a nightmare. Don’t they know not every girl wants rainbow coloured footwear?
Eliza has four teeth and she is working on two more. I’m probably going to kick myself for saying this, but I feel like the first two teeth are the worst. When the second set came in, it was nothing in comparison.
Eliza will stare people down without waving or saying hello and it’s actually kind of funny. Sometimes I catch her and its like she is trying to figure them out.
She has also started shaking her head “no,” but I think she’s just imitating us because she will do it randomly. She can squish her face to look like a fish, but I can never seem to catch it on camera.
- Phil Collins is still her favorite but she enjoys the music from her cartoons as well.
- Our cat Thirteen
- Blueberries (she actually cried when we tried to give her one)
We are so excited to see what next month brings!
